The customer sent a little too much. Good problem. Still an accounting problem.
When a bank deposit is slightly higher than the recorded invoice payments it belongs to, Vendger can preserve the residual as an unapplied customer credit instead of forcing the payment to fit. So the bank transaction can reconcile while the customer balance still tells the truth.
A few extra dollars should not require creative accounting.
Vendger links the recorded invoice payments to the bank transaction, records the qualifying overpayment residual as customer credit and includes unapplied credit in customer statement balances and activity.
